The journey, of which I took through this class, has
led me many ways to do my concentration.
I started off with dark colors then shifted straight into black and
white. I thought that my message of my
concentration would be more effective if I had more monochrome pictures, while
still keeping a few colored photos in with my concentration that stuck with my
theme. I started to work with layers in
photo shop right away to get use to the idea of possibly mixing two photos
together. When I began working with
models, I used the experience that I got, from practicing layers, on the photos
of the models I took. Using the
principles of rule of thirds, value and contrast, color and contrast, line and repetition,
light, and mood, I shaped my pictures to my advantage to create a world where
everything was still, and only one person lived was able to move. My final images show a world of ruin and
decay that leads to only one person in white who is able to move freely in it
while the rest stay still and withers away through time.
The main idea of my concentration is emotions of emptiness and loneliness. It has a personal connection to what I have felt in the past about my life, and I wanted to bring that out for others to see. Using Value and Contrast, my strongest principle of design, I hope to show the views the emotions of my former life through these photos.
